Named Accountable GP for all Patients

You may be aware that all GP Practices are now required to provide their patients with a 'named, accountable GP'.

Our GP Contract requires the named accountable GP to take responsibility for the co-ordination of all appropriate services required under the contract, and to ensure that they are delivered to each of their patients where required based on their clinical judgement.

All patients registered with Balham Park Surgery, including children, have a named GP listed in their clinical record. We allocated our patients where we could to doctors that they have most recently seen. In cases where patients have not been seen, the GP is no longer with us and in some instances we allocated more randomly to ensure a more even distribution across the practice.

We will be notifying you of the GP that you have been allocated in non-specific letters that we might send to you, via prescriptions, and to your email if we have those details. You also may be informed when you contact us, or during a consultation.

You can change your named GP if you wish to once you have been informed, just tell us and we will organise for this to be amended so long as it is agreed by the practice that your preference is suitable.

Please note that this does NOT prevent you from seeing any GP of your choice in the practice as you currently do now, and you are unlikely to see any notable change in the way care is delivered to you by us.
